On Tuesday May 28, 2024, more than 220 people interested in the theme gathered at the National Laboratory for engineering (LNEC) in Lisbon for a full day of presentations and dialogue. After the inauguration by the Director of the LNEC, scientific knowledge was presented as well as outlooks into the worldwide and also the national perspectives for the new technology.

The afternoon sessions were dedicated to practical experiences with presentations from the supporting industry, the producers of equipment and of additives as well as experiences of companies producing LC3 and / or calcined clay. It was interesting to learn, that Portugal is extremely rich in suitable clays, something that does not surprise considering the age-long tradition of handcrafted glazed ceramic tiles that decorate many buildings in the Iberian Peninsula.

The event was organized by the LC3 project run by the Polytechnical University of Lausanne (EPFL) within an ongoing project supported by “Climate Works” and the local Partner LNEC, sponsors from the industry presented their products.

Even after Prof Martirena’s  closing remarks, large groups formed in the hall in lively debates for more than an hour.
